This website contains cataloging best practices for RDA, LCMPT, and LCGFT, as well as other cataloging resources created and maintained by MLA-CMC, such resources for types of composition terms and thematic index numbers.  The site also includes committee and special reports pertaining to bibliographic control of music materials.

Metadata for Music Resources

This resource contains information about metadata standards and tools and their applications to music. It focuses on standards and tools that are used in the library community and beyond and provide links to very general background information on standards heavily used in the more traditional cataloging community. The site concentrates on exposing other resources and tools, or information on which might be less readily available or spread diffusely.

About MLA

The Music Library Association is the professional association for music libraries and librarianship in the United States. Founded in 1931, it has an international membership of librarians, musicians, scholars, educators, and members of the book and music trades. Complementing the Association’s national and international activities are eleven regional chapters that carry out its programs on the local level.
