Ask MLA for Help

MLA has multiple channels through which you can ask for help.

Archives Help/Advice

Have a question about music archives/archiving?  Please see the Ask an Archivist page and fill out the form to get advice from fellow archivists.

Career Advisory Service

To request a consultation, please see the Advisor Biographies and Specialties page for a list of available advisors in the various specialties. Send an email to the current CAS Coordinator, Drew Beisswenger. The coordinator will contact the requested advisor. The advisor will contact the applicant and set up a means of communication mutually agreeable to both parties.

Instruction Consultation Service

The Instruction Consultation Service offers support regarding all areas of instruction as it pertains to music librarianship.  Experienced librarians across many areas of expertise within MLA have volunteered to be consultants.  To request a consultation, complete and submit the Instruction Consultation Service Request Form.  For more information and to see a list of our consultants, head to our webpage.

Resume Review Service

The Résumé and Cover Letter Review Service (RCLRS) is sponsored by the Career Development and Services Committee of the Music Library Association. This web-based service allows current members of the Music Library Association (MLA) or a regional MLA chapter to submit a cover letter and résumé or curriculum vita to an MLA member with significant experience evaluating employment applications and hiring, managing, and evaluating staff. The service offers virtual reviews throughout the year, as well as face-to-face reviews during the Annual Conference each year.  To take advantage of this service, head to our webpage about Using the Résumé and Cover Letter Review Service.

About MLA

The Music Library Association is the professional association for music libraries and librarianship in the United States. Founded in 1931, it has an international membership of librarians, musicians, scholars, educators, and members of the book and music trades. Complementing the Association’s national and international activities are eleven regional chapters that carry out its programs on the local level.
