Metadata Resources

Welcome to Metadata for Music Resources, a resource for information about non-MARC metadata standards and tools and their applications to music. We focus here on standards and tools that are used in the library community and beyond. While we provide links to very general background information on standards heavily used in the more traditional cataloging community, we concentrate on exposing other resources and tools, information on which might be less readily available or spread diffusely. This site is developed and maintained by the Encoding Standards Subcommittee of the Music Library Association’s Cataloging and Metadata Committee. The larger metadata community is a rapidly evolving one, and we encourage submissions from all of you to help us grow this site and keep it relevant for the needs of the musical community.
