The committee will maintain a rotation of educational opportunities related to all aspects identified in the Core Competencies for Music Librarians and other evolving needs of the profession.
Working Groups
The Education Committee dissolved the Educational Outreach Subcommittee and welcomed the subcommittee members into the parent committee following the 2017 annual conference. At this meeting, the work of the Education Committee was distributed across five working groups, as follows:
Webinar Working Group
This group is responsible for developing, marketing, and coordinating the webinar series in coordination with the Education Committee Chair and the appropriate ALA Editions representative. Specifically, the working group will identify educational content and audiences in alignment with those identified in the Education Committee charge, identify webinar instructors, and serve as a facilitator for webinar instructors in all aspects of their training, content development, and delivery. The working group is also responsible for providing assessment reports to the Education Committee following each webinar. The activities and charge of the working group will be assessed by the Education Committee every 2 years.
E-Course Working Group
This group is responsible for developing, marketing, and coordinating e-courses in coordination with the Education Committee Chair and the appropriate ALA Editions representative. Specifically, the working group will identify educational content and audiences in alignment with those identified in the Education Committee charge, identify e-course instructors, and serve as a facilitator for e-course instructors in all aspects of their training, content development, and delivery. This group should provide a complete proposal for a train-the-trainer program via email to Education Committee membership 1 month prior to the 2018 annual meeting. Upon approval, this group’s work will be complete. However, the Educational Committee is committed to reviewing this program and adjusting as needed every 4 years.
