MLA Emergency Relief Fund FAQs

How much funding is available?
The fund currently has $11,000 and members may apply for up to $1,000. Because the funds will be disbursed almost immediately, the funds are available and will not be invested.

Who is qualified to apply? Any member of MLA regardless of level (student, regular, etc.).

May I apply more than once?
We are unable to provide multiple grants to individuals.

Do I need to be a US citizen to apply?
No, but you must be able to provide a U.S. taxpayer ID number and complete a W-9 Form in order to receive funds. Individuals who receive more than $600 will be taxed on the grant as income.

Is there a deadline to apply?
The applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

How will applicants be selected?
The review task force will use a rubric modeled after the SAA’s rubric.

When will I hear about my application?
The review task force will review applications weekly and aims to respond to applicants within 10 business days.

If I receive a grant, will I remain anonymous?
Yes, you will not be named or identified publicly.
