Latin American music research and archives have been confronted with many challenges over their histories. Rich in cultural heritage, projects, and growing initiatives, among the major challenges have been the geographical, social, cultural, political, and economic landscapes of each country. All have impacted the preservation, accessibility, and dissemination of primary resources and posed challenges for projects of international cooperation, which in turn have effected international awareness, understanding, and better inclusion within the international academic discourse.
Through this panel, IAML hopes to provide a venue for discussion and dissemination; to explore opportunities for international cooperation; and to provide an opportunity for learning and sharing about the musical landscape and cultural heritage of Latin American countries among all in attendance.
