Abstract
The Latin American and Caribbean Collection in the George A. Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida holds approximately 500,000 volumes, over 50,000 microforms, and a large number of digital resources. The Latin American and Caribbean Collection collects across the spectrum of academic disciplines and among the items related to music in the Collection, there are books and monographs in Spanish and Portuguese related to the popular, folk, and art music, of Latin America and the Caribbean along with a number of scores, programs, and journals, dating back to the Pan-American Union era. This presentation will highlight some of the interesting scores, books, and musical ephemera, from the Collection including many items that are presently uncatalogued. In addition, this presentation will describe the cooperation between the Latin American and Caribbean Collection and the Music Collection of the Architecture & Fine Arts Library at the University of Florida as librarians from these two collections serve the research needs of the university community.
