Show me the Music--Latest Developments at RIdIM

Abstract    español | português
Join us for a panel presentation on the database of Association Répertoire International d’Iconographie Musicale (RIdIM). The database is a growing and developing resource for depictions of music, dance, and other performing arts in visual media, from ancient times to the present. Alan Green (Ohio State University and RIdIM Project Coordinator) will provide an overview of RIdIM and highlight the features of our newly enhanced database search interface. Sean Ferguson (Ohio State University and Editor-in-Chief of the database) will discuss new database content and the opportunities and process for anyone interested in becoming a RIdIM cataloger. Three project contributors will then share their experiences cataloging a wide variety of images. Associate Editor Jarod Ogier (Ohio State University) will speak on his work with popular music online image collections at the Library of Congress and Smithsonian Institution. Associate Editor Michael Duffy IV (Western Michigan University) and cataloger Jessica Hronchek (Hope College) will discuss cataloging of art reproduced in the RIdIM journal Imago Musicae, including issues of provenance and online image access. The database is available at http://db.ridim.org
