ELECTRICITY
Standard U.S. voltage is 120 V - 60 Hz. Standard electric plugs have two flat blades (type A or B). The plugs on some newer appliances have a third round grounding pin.

TIPPING RECOMMENDATIONS
  • A quick method for calculating the tip is to double the tax. In New York City, it is customary to tip 15-20% and with a NYC 8.25% sales tax, a good estimate is to simply double the tax and round up.
  • In most dining establishments, gratuity is automatically included with groups of six or more. This should be explicitly stated in the restaurant menu. With smaller groups gratuity is not automatically included, and left to the customer to calculate. It is considered rude not to tip at all.
  • See this guide to NYC tipping etiquette for helpful guidelines.

INSURANCE AND RESPONSIBILITY
Liability insurance is the responsibility of each individual delegate. Delegates should have their own medical coverage. The Organizing Committee takes no responsibility for accident, losses, damages, delays, or any modifications to the program arising from unforeseeable circumstances. It accepts no responsibility for travel or accommodation arrangements.

In the event that the conference cannot be held or is postponed due to events beyond the control of the conference organizers (force majeure) or due to events which are not attributable to wrongful intent or gross negligence of the conference organizers, the conference organizers cannot be held liable for any damages, costs, or losses incurred, such as transportation costs, accommodation costs, financial losses, etc.
