Details
UNT Libraries will host a summer Music Cataloging Institute June 9-13, 2014. Beginning and intermediate music catalogers, including those whose work also involves other types of materials, will benefit from this seminar-style, hands-on experience focused on cataloging music materials with RDA in MARC. Space is limited to 10 registrants.

Held on UNT’s Denton campus on the 4th floor of Willis Library (Music Library), the institute begins at 9 a.m. Monday and concludes around noon Friday. Lunch will be provided all five days; all other meals and housing are at the attendee’s expense.

Complimentary access to the RDA Toolkit and several other online cataloging tools will be provided.

All are members of subcommittees of the Bibliographic Control Committee of the Music Library Association, jointly teach a music cataloging course at UNT, and have published on librarianship. In addition, the lead instructor Jean Harden is a member of the JSC Music Working Group and a past recipient of the MOUG Distinguished Service Award.

What you need to bring:
1) A laptop with either Connexion Client or the SkyRiver cataloging client preloaded. Remember to bring a cord for recharging. A maximum of two laptops will be available for loan from the UNT Libraries for the week, but bringing your own is greatly preferred.
2) A sweater. Texas is hot in the summer, but the top floor of Willis Library is cold!
3) Several music items to catalog, especially ones you find problematic. Additional items will be supplied for use during the institute.
