About the MLA Job Placement Service


The purpose of the Placement Service is to assist individuals who seek initial or new employment in the field of music librarianship. To this end, the Placement Officer publishes positions currently available in academic, public, performing arts, orchestra, conservatory, media, or radio libraries. Positions not requiring an MLS are also included when identified.

The Placement Officer sends new advertisements to the MLA Web Editor who will post them within 48 hours of notification, excluding holidays and weekends. Ads remain posted until the position has been filled or for a maximum period of three months, after which they are archived and available on the Job Archives page.

 

To List a Position with the Job Placement Service:
Employers may advertise in the Job List without charge. To list a position with the Placement Service, contact the Placement Officer. E-mail is the preferred method for submitting new postings to the Placement Officer, but ads may also be faxed or mailed via regular postal mail to the following address:
