Position Title: Librarian II - AV Cataloger
Institution: Chesapeake (VA) Public Library
Responsibilities: Catalogs all audiovisual materials for a fully automated library system. Must possess general knowledge of library materials in all formats. Must be capable of establishing, interpreting, and carrying out cataloging policies and procedures. Requires flexibility and dexterity to retrieve library materials from all shelving and handle materials for cataloging into automation system; may require bending, reaching, climbing and maneuvering a 100 lb. book cart. Supervises the paraprofessional staff.
Qualifications / Requirements: Requires a Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school. Must be eligible for certification as a Professional Librarian by the Commonwealth of Virginia and must obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire. Requires at least two years experience as a professional librarian. Experience cataloging with automated databases and computers is highly desirable; experience on the Sirsi library automation system and OCLC preferred. A valid driver's license and state and local criminal history reports are required.
Salary: $37,642
