The Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) is currently searching for three part-time Archival Processing Assistants. These are sixteen-month grant-funded positions that report to the Project Manager/Archivist.  The positions are available immediately.

Position Details
Position Summary:

Each part-time Archival Processing Assistant will be responsible for the technical organization and processing of archival collection of Jewish ethnomusicology consisting of papers, music, photographs, slides and recordings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical organization and physical rehousing of collection.
  • Processing and entering metadata into ArchivistToolkit database
  • Outreach and publicity related to collection including use of social media and “brown bag lunch and learn” events.
Qualifications
Requirements:
  • BA in one or more of the following areas: Jewish studies, music or anthropology. 
  • Facility with using social media.
  • Familiarity with Archivist Toolkit or similar database.
  • Basic knowledge of the preservation and conservation practices for historical documents.
  • Ability to work efficiently, keep track of detailed tasks in working with archival collections and meet specified project goals and deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills, flexible, and demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • One year experience preferred.
