Purpose: Because the Music Library Association is an American Library Association affiliate, the MLA President receives and transmits to this representative gratis registration privileges. The MLA representative to ALA attends the ALA annual summer and mid-winter meetings as an observer, and reports actions of significance to the MLA to the President in a timely fashion as appropriate. The representative may be reimbursed for the mid-winter registration fee if not otherwise funded.

Purpose: As a voting member of this committee, the MLA representative presents an informed statement of our views on various standards. He/she consults with or refers decisions to other committees within the Association when necessary.
Music OCLC Users Group
Representative: Alan Ringwood (MOUG Secretary/Newsletter Editor and MLA contact)
Purpose:
To foster informal affiliations with professional musical, scholarly, and library organizations whose interests and activities correlate with those of MLA; to coordinate and train members of MLA who are active in other organizations to effectively bring information about MLA to other groups and to communicate news of those groups’ activities to the membership of MLA; and to develop and maintain structures for communication and reporting between liaison organizations and MLA. The committee also works with the Board and the President to coordinate communication between MLA’s official representatives to ALA and NISO and the MLA membership.
