CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The MLA Nominating Committee 2010 welcomes nominations for:

Three Members-at-Large to serve on the Board of Directors for a two-year term, 2011–2013

Board members represent the membership as they carry out the Association's work. The three incoming Board members will be selected by the President to serve as Assistant Parliamentarian, Assistant Planning and Reports Officer, or Assistant Fiscal Officer respectively.  Nominations should reflect the entire range and nature of the work of the Association's members.  Incumbents may not succeed themselves.

The MLA Citation

The MLA Citation, the Association's tribute for lifetime achievement, is awarded in recognition of contributions to the profession over a career.

Please send your recommendations to one of the Nominating Committee members listed below.  Please include the institutional affiliation for each proposed candidate, as well as a very brief justification for your recommendation.  Also please let us know if you have discussed your nomination with the individual and obtained her/his approval in advance.  Self-nominations are also welcome.

MLA's Bibliographic Control Committee and its Metadata Subcommittee are pleased to announce the online release of "Metadata Standards and Guidelines for Digital Audio." The Metadata Subcommittee worked with the ALA Audio Metadata Task Force, in the Preservation and Reformatting Section (PARS) of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS), to create this document. It can be found linked from the PARS page or you can link directly to the document.

The document outlines a number of metadata standards relevant to the description and management of digital audio, explaining its purpose and providing links to documentation and relevant examples. We hope it will be useful to the MLA community.
