Subcommittee on MARC Formats

Charge:

• To formulate MLA policy on all matters related to MARC 21 formats
• To review and evaluate proposed standards for their impact on the Music Library community
• To propose new standards to meet the needs of the Music Library community
• To educate MLA members about issues pertinent to the various MARC 21 formats, including future revisions
• To address other matters deemed pertinent by the Bibliographic Control Committee.

The Chair serves as the MLA liaison to the MARC Advisory Committee, which meets concurrently with  MARBI, the ALCTS/LITA/RUSA Representation in Machine-Readable Form of Bibliographic Information Committee, and advises the Library of Congress concerning changes to the MARC 21 formats.
