BCC Authorities Subcommittee 2006 Annual Report

The business meeting of the Authorities Subcommittee was held on Feb. 23, 2006 at the Peabody Hotel, Memphis, TN.

• The chair reported on the highlights of the LITA/ALCTS—CCS Authority Control in the Online Environment Interest Group (ACIG) meeting at ALA Midwinter in San Antonio, TX, Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006.
• The chair reported on the highlights of the LITA/ALCTS—CCS Authority Control in the Online Environment Interest Group (ACIG) meeting at ALA Annual in Chicago, IL, Sunday, June 26, 2005.

Ralph Papakhian completed his term as member of the Authorities Subcommittee. At the conclusion of the Bibliographic Control Committee meeting, Linda Blair was appointed to the Authorities Subcommittee to fill the vacant position.

In July 2006, the Online Audiovisual Catalogers Cataloging Policy Committee (OLAC CAPC) approved a liaison relationship between OLAC’s CAPC and MLA’s Bibliographic Control Committee. The MLA Authorities Subcommittee Chair will serve as a formal liaison to CAPC, serving in an ex-officio position.

In recent months, the members of the Authorities Subcommittee have joined members of the Bibliographic Control Committee and Descriptive Cataloging Subcommittee in email discussions concerning the review of the draft version of RDA, Part II.
