Online Audiovisual Catalogers/Cataloging Policy Committee Meeting
Friday, June 23, 2006, from 7:30-9:30 pm
Kelly McGrath will be the new CAPC chair.
John Attig gave a report on MARBI.
Greta de Groat reported that the Joint Steering Committee would be discussing major issues using the “triage” system. The group would identify what is most urgent.
OLAC/CAPC Task Force on FAQ/Best Practices (L. Bodenheimer for C. Gerhart)
The task force hopes to have the FAQ proposal available at the OLAC conference in Phoenix, Oct. 2006.
NACO A/V Report (L. Bodenheimer for A. Caldwell)
The participants have been busy. The NACO A/V funnel has created 961 name authorities, 6 series authorities, and changed 349 name authorities. Chuck Herrold is now a member of the funnel. David Prochazka has set up a listserve for the NACO A/V participants. Ann Caldwell is looking for new methods of training new members.
Form/Genre Headings (L. Bodenheimer for D. Reser)
The CPSO has done some work with the cataloging staff in Motion Pictures and Broadcasting. It was hoped that a draft would be available, but they need more time. CPSO is working with OCLC and the Music Library Association on music form/genre headings.
AACR2 Examples Task Force (L. Bodenheimer)
The group did some work last fall, but they are currently waiting to see what will develop with RDA. The current examples group will work on the “former” part I, and a new group will be created to work on examples in “parts II & III.”

Authority Control in the Online Environment Interest Group (ACIG)

Of interest to the music community: Mark Scharff was re-elected to serve as member-at-large for uniform titles. There was a discussion of the Midwinter 2007 meeting, which will consist of a panel of outsourcing vendors. The panelists will respond to a set list of questions. There was a brief discussion of the Annual 2007 meeting.
