The open meeting of the Subject Access Subcommittee was held on February 24, 2001 at the
annual MLA meeting in New York City. Over 75 people were in attendance. The following
presentation was heard:
Music Cataloging and Form/Genre Implementation at the Library of Congress (Geraldine Ostrove)
Summary: The Library of Congress began to plan for the implementation of form/genre access within the Library of Congress Subject Headings system in 1995. With particular reference to music headings, the presentation reviewed conceptual and systems issues that have to be addressed along the way, where LC currently stands, and some of the tasks yet to be done and the problems yet to be resolved.
As committee member Russell Hodges rotated off, his significant
contributions to the work of the committee is recognized.
