International Music Metadata Projects Working Group
2001 Annual Report

Brad Eden presented an interim report of the Working Group's progress during the open BCC meeting in New York City. At that point the current metadata landscape had been surveyed and various types of music-related projects identified. The results of that survey may be viewed at www.lib.ox.ac.uk/immpwg/projects.asp . The thirty-six identified projects were then grouped into six categories (MARC, EAD, Dublin Core, Music Metadata Markup Languages, American Memory Projects, and Defined Parameters) and distributed among the group members for study and analysis. The Group's final report was submitted to the Bibliographic Control Committee in September and contains several recommendations for further action. The BCC has been asked to establish mechanisms for the continued monitoring of metadata projects, for the on-going maintenance of the existing website, for liaisons between MLA and the various metadata communities (some of which have already been established), and to meet the continuing educational needs of the MLA membership.
